PlateSpin Trotted Out Its First Major Product Release

PlateSpin has trotted out its first major product release since Novell bought the virtualization management operation back in March with the launch of PowerConvert 7.0, its data center disaster recovery mojo.

The software has new backup and recovery features and expanded multi-platform support.

It’s supposed to help enterprises migrate server workloads across heterogeneous physical and virtual IT environments and simplify the management of server workloads in their heterogeneous data centers.

There’s new image-based disaster recovery capabilities and migration speed enhancements for large-scale implementations as well as broader support for Novell rivals Red Hat Enterprise Linux, 64-bit Windows Server workloads and Citrix XenServer environments.

It can decouple server workloads from the underlying hardware and stream them over the network between physical servers, blade infrastructures, virtual hosts and image archives.
