INDIAN WELLS, Calif., Feb. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CacheIO, the technology leader in all Flash storage, has teamed with Quantum, provider of the industry-leading StorNext shared file system software, and MTI Film, a leading Hollywood-based post production services provider and software developer, to demonstrate their joint solution for uncompressed 4K streaming at the Hollywood Post Alliance Technology Retreat from February 18th to February 22nd. Larry Chernoff, MTI Film CEO, commented, "With the advent of 4K television, the requirement for multiple 4K streams will be vital to any successful workflow we deploy. In relation to our current restoration services this kind of bandwidth is essential right now. MTI Film is pleased that CacheIO and Quantum have enabled us to achieve fast access particularly as it relates to uncompressed 4K files." The HPA demo will highlight the capabilities of MTI Film's new dailies workflow solution Cortex::Control Dailies.
CacheIO 2RU Flash Array provides over 40TB of usable SSD storage and blazing bandwidth of over 140Gbps, enabling real-time streaming of up to 9 concurrent uncompressed 4K streams, with no performance loss due to the fragmentation suffered by traditional hard disk-based systems. Its innovative 2RU platform incorporates 18 x 8Gbps FibreChannel ports which can be shared by tens of media production workstations under the management of Quantum's StorNext file system. In addition to the standalone SSD storage array, a caching model as a front end to existing hard-disk storage will be available from CacheIO following NAB.
Quantum's StorNext is the leading shared file system for media production workflows. In addition to concurrent file sharing across multiple workstations, StorNext load balances all traffic across all 18 x 8Gbps FibreChannel ports on CacheIO Flash Array so its 140Gbps bandwidth can be maximally utilized by all applications with no performance hot spot. StorNext also allows CacheIO to scale out performance and capacity across multiple storage arrays.
