Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced that it developed a package extension to Microsoft Visual Studio that enables seamless native C/C++ and JAVA development for Android software. The extension is being used in the Android software development platform for NVIDIA Tegra processor-powered devices – the NVIDIA Nsight Tegra, Visual Studio Edition. Developers familiar with the Microsoft Visual Studio environment benefit from a boost in productivity by continuing to use their existing experience to develop Android applications.
“Mentor’s expertise in open source tools and custom services provides great value to silicon partners such as NVIDIA, by providing a seamless and comprehensive development environment for Android-based applications,” said Mark Mitchell, general manager of open source tools, Mentor Graphics Embedded Software Division. “We are proud that NVIDIA selected us to help create the Android development environment which eases the development of Android software for Tegra-powered devices.”
“The Nsight Tegra development environment gives developers the tools to create Android software for Tegra-powered devices,” said Tony Tamasi, senior vice president, Content and Technology at NVIDIA. “Working with Mentor, we’ve developed a fast and easy solution for traditional console game and software developers looking to adapt their code to the Android platform.”
