Cloud spending by SMBs in 2012 reached $45 billion with 6 million new SMBs purchasing cloud services, according to this Datamation article. The figures are based on a report by Parallels, a cloud tool vendor, which also predicts that the market will grow to $95 billion by 2015.

One-third of organizations polled in a recent KPMG survey reported that the cost of moving to the cloud was higher than they expected, according to this IT World Canada article. One of the reasons for the increased cost was due to required changes to the organizations' IT architecture.

We’ve all heard the buzz about the big data explosion. According to a recent Gartner forecast report, big data was expected to drive $28 billion in worldwide IT spending in 2012, and more than $230 billion will be allocated to this new market through 2016.
A large part of this amount will help adapt infrastructures and processes to the demands caused by all types of data (unstructured and structured) as well as new device capabilities.
