Today at the NRF (National Retail Federation) 102nd Annual Convention & EXPO, Epson America, Inc., a leading supplier of value-added Point of Service (POS) solutions, introduced its OmniLink™ smart solutions, a new family of intelligent products that combines industry-leading POS printers with built-in intelligence to deliver flexible, mobile web-based printing, cloud-based services, peripheral connectivity and PC computing power—all in one small footprint. Epson’s OmniLink family represents a new class of intelligent solutions that allows retailers to take advantage of new POS applications and configuration flexibility without sacrificing their existing technology investment.

In response to consumer demands for a more personalized shopping experience, retailers are adopting POS technologies that support greater mobility, tailored promotions and cross-channel information access. “Our new family of intelligent solutions will help retailers embrace mobility while expanding POS capabilities,” commented Rajeev Mishra, Vice President, Commercial Sales and Marketing. “OmniLink solutions allow retailers to adapt POS systems to evolving business needs. It gives them a flexible and powerful POS platform that enables new, revenue-generating services and POS configurations that can help transform the way they run their business.”
Designed for retailers looking to implement a more customer-centric mobile POS model while preserving existing POS infrastructure, OmniLink solutions bridge the gap between traditional and mobile POS platforms. With varying levels of computing power, OmniLink solutions enable retailers to deploy both fixed lane and mobile POS solutions in a variety of configurations.
OmniLink i-Series
Epson’s OmniLink i-Series is designed to support mobile POS, cloud services and information display applications. These models include a highly-reliable Epson POS receipt or label printer, built-in web server, and Epson’s unique e-POS-print technology for browser-based printing from any mobile device. In addition, the models are powered by an industrial-grade PC with embedded Linux platform, peripheral connectivity and VGA output. The OmniLink i-Series enables cloud-based services such as data analytics, digital receipts, coupons and loyalty programs, with no need for legacy POS system integration. The following Epson software partners have embraced the OmniLink solution and will be showcasing cloud services demos in the Epson Booth at the NRF Show: AppCard, Livelenz, Proximiant, RewardLoop, SmartReceipt, Third Solutions. Epson’s first i-Series models include the OmniLink TM-T88V-i, low-profile OmniLink TM-T70-i with front-facing controls, and OmniLink TM-L90-i label printer.
OmniLink DT-Series
Epson’s OmniLink DT-Series is designed for retailers looking to implement any number of POS configurations to gain the benefits of mobile POS and increased POS functionality. These models include an retail-hardened PC with either POSReady 7 or Linux operating system powered by an Intel Atom 1.8GHz processor optimized for stability and performance -- all integrated into the ultra-small footprint of an Epson POS receipt printer. All OmniLink DT-Series models are compliant with established software standards and include multiple ports for connecting POS peripherals like scanners, keyboards, displays and cash drawers. They also support mobile POS deployments with the added capability of a built-in web server and Epson’s ePOS-print technology for driverless web-based printing. First in the series is Epson’s OmniLink TM-T88V-DT, with additional models to be introduced in 2013.
