Datatel Solutions, a virtual service provider and master agent, Concordus Applications, an innovative systems integrator, and Syntologica, a telecommunications consulting company, announced and demonstrated today at TM Forum’s Management World Americas the first commercially available implementation, developed specifically for enterprise services, of the TM Forum's Simple Management API - a lightweight, universal management interface for services throughout the extended value chain.
Built on the Apigee API Platform and Amazon Web Services, and sold and supported as a SaaS, the LongView solution gives enterprises reliable, global access to the Simple Management API, offering innovative mediation to multiple service infrastructures and added value options, including data aggregation, customizable alerts and SLA monitoring.
"This first commercial implementation of TM Forum's Simple Management API for enterprise services can provide enterprises with visibility into the provisioning and health of all their applications and API-delivered services. We are pleased that the Apigee API platform will provide the API management foundation for this implementation of the Simple Management API," said Chet Kapoor, Apigee CEO.
Nik Willetts, Chief Strategy Officer at TM Forum, observed: "End-to-end service assurance across multi-partner, multi-cloud environments is emerging as a serious challenge for digital service providers today. That’s exactly why we created the Simple Management API—to provide a universal management interface for any service. We’re thrilled to see Syntologica and Concordus leading the industry with the launch of the first commercially available service for enterprise services based on the Simple Management API."
Daniel Langton, CEO at Datatel Solutions, said: "Datatel has been looking for a solution to help aggregate all of our service providers in a simple secure and affordable way. The hosted solution offered by Syntologica and Concordus is the only solution we found that gave us the ability to centrally manage and monitor all of our internal and partner applications in one single standardized application. The SaaS delivery model is flexible and scalable, as well as affordable, and allows us to remain nimble as the growth in number of services we offer, and the opportunity to bundle new SaaS, IaaS, CaaS and Cloud applications, explodes."
Ken Anderson, CTO at Concordus Applications, noted: "It’s exciting to work with Datatel and Syntologica to build a real-world, standards-based solution for the distributed service-based world we live in. Creating a centralized management service that is standardized to ensure the health of subscribed services, whether REST, SOAP or other, is a major benefit to service providers, aggregators and distributors. Providing this as a service allows any sized company to focus on taking the complexity and unpredictability out of multi-cloud integration. It frees them up to offer bundled services in a reliable and auditable way while leveraging the same technologies and tools for internal operational efficiencies."
John Wilmes, Principal at Syntologica, commented: "This new service shows how the Simple Management API can be taken from a set of specifications and design patterns to a real commercial solution that solves real problems, as shown in our demonstrations this week. We believe this is just the beginning of a broad range of innovations that enterprises and entrepreneurs will build on the Simple Management API."
