Jetico, security software developer, has announced the release of version 2.0 of BestCrypt Container Encryption for Linux, now with a simple user experience in a new graphical user interface (GUI), plus greater stability and security. With Jetico's Linux encryption software you can safely store any selected files or folders in encrypted containers, which work like virtual drives.
Jetico CEO Michael Waksman states, “Despite its advanced security technology, BestCrypt is so easy to use. Based on the interface in BestCrypt for Mac, this new GUI for Linux makes encryption operations more intuitive, and thus quicker to learn and use with a simple click.”
In the previous version of BestCrypt for Linux, encryption operations were only available in command-line. Thanks to the new GUI in the BestCrypt Control Panel, now anyone can use Linux encryption without more complicated command instructions.
Since the original release of BestCrypt, Jetico's file encryption software has reliably delivered a solution that is easy to use and light on system resources. The updated version promises the same high-powered encryption, with a range of improvements designed to make the software even more secure and adaptable to user needs.
BestCrypt Container Encryption for Linux version 2.0 offers the following added features and benefits:
- GUI to provide an easy user interface for all possible tasks with container encryption; GUI is optional, so the program may still be from via command-line if preferred
- Redeveloped BestCrypt block device driver to support future Linux kernel changes; save time by quickly finding devices where containers have been mounted
- XTS and LRW encryption modes
- Create several hidden containers inside an outer container (deniable encryption)
- Changed visible device politics so now there are no empty devices; new BestCrypt block device appears only during container linking process
- Commands for bctool to more easily backup and restore container headers
- Commands for bctool to encrypt and decrypt container headers to fully hide a container file
BestCrypt's key advantage is working with container files for storage and transfer of encrypted data that is compatible across Windows, Linux and Mac. Users can determine the size of the container depending upon their needs, as well as create multiple containers for more flexible management of files and folders.
To summarize the user benefit of BestCrypt, Mr. Waksman clarifies, "If a computer containing confidential or personal information were in danger of being accessed by unwanted eyes, BestCrypt offers peace of mind that any sensitive files are protected by strong encryption that doesn’t hurt to use."
