FXI beschleunigt Entwicklung von ARM Cortex CPUs & ARM Mali GPUs mit Mikrocomputer Cotton Candy

FXI, Pionier des Mikrocomputers Cstick™ Any Screen, hat heute bekannt gegeben, dass das Unternehmen eine komplette Systemlösung für ARM® Linux und Android auf seiner Geräteplattform Cotton Candy veröffentlicht, mit Entwicklern als Zielgruppe. Durch die Vereinbarung und die enge Zusammenarbeit mit ARM wird FXI in die Lage kommen, die Ressourcen der Mali™-Entwicklungs-Community vollständig zu nutzen und dabei eine einfach zu nutzende, innovative Entwicklungsplattform für Mali-GPU-Entwickler bereitzustellen.

Bestehende Besitzer des Cotton-Candy-Geräts können Entwicklungsversionen von Ubuntu Linux für ARM v12.04 und Android 4.0 sowohl in Quell- als auch in binärer Form herunterladen unter http://www.fxitech.com. Entwickler können Cotton Candy von http://store.cstick.com erhalten.

FXI arbeitet eng mit ARM zusammen, um die Kapazitäten des ARM Mali-400 MP GPU (und anderer ARM-Technologien) vollständig auszunutzen. Die Cotton Candy Any Screen IP ermöglicht es Entwicklern, mit dem in den PC eingesteckten Cotton-Candy-Gerät zu arbeiten und mit ihren vorhandenen Tool-Chains direkt auf dem Cotton Candy zu entwickeln. Die Kombination des ARM Cortex™-A9 mit dem Mali-400 MP findet man in einer großen Bandbreite von Geräten von Smartphones, Tablets und Smart-TVs. Durch die Nutzung des Cotton Candy, bei dem diese Kombination ebenfalls verwendet wird, können Entwickler eine große Bandbreite von Cortex-Prozessoren ins Auge fassen, und Mali-GPU-basierte Plattformen – oder solche für das Cotton Candy selbst – können an Entwicklungen beim tatsächlich marktführenden Mali-Silicium arbeiten.

Cotton Candy – Der wahre Mikrocomputer

Das Cotton Candy von FXI ist ein Computing-Gerät von der Größe eines USB-Sticks, mit dem die Nutzer über ihr Lieblings-Betriebssystem über einen einzigen, sicheren Zugang auf sämtliche persönlichen Cloud-Services und Apps zurückgreifen können, während ein konsistentes Darstellungserlebnis auf jedem Bildschirm ermöglicht wird. Entwickler und Unternehmen nutzen Cotton Candy momentan als Plattform für die Ermöglichung eines konsistenten Nutzererlebnisses von Apps und Services für multiple Märkte.

Die außergewöhnliche Leistung des Quad-Core-Mali-400-MP war eine der entscheidenden Konstruktionsdesign-Entscheidungen für FXI. Die Any Screen IP von FXI verbindet den Mikrocomputer mit der Computing-Plattform mit Intel-Prozessor dadurch, dass der PC mit Cotton Candy in einen Thin Client verwandelt werden kann. In diesen Anwendungsbereichen müssen UI und Anwendungsleistung hoch genug sein, damit die Nutzer beim Einstecken ein PC-ähnliches Erlebnis haben. Diese Möglichkeit des Cotton Candy ist einzigartig und erfordert höhere Leistungsniveaus, vor allem hinsichtlich der Grafik im Vergleich zu vorhandenen „TV-only“-Geräten. Dadurch wird das Cotton Candy zu einer viel fähigeren Plattform für Spiele und webbasierte Anwendungen im Anwendungsbereich TV, während 1080p-Grafik für eine Vielzahl von Monitorgeräten ermöglicht wird.
