In response to growing concerns from the worldwide security and IT community over the proliferation of cyber threats, Norman AS, a global leader in threat discovery, malware forensics and analysis, and industrial control system protection, today announced the availability of the newest version of its powerful Malware Analyzer G2 (MAG2) platform. The MAG2 integrates real-time threat data with Norman’s Network Protection (NNP) cyber attack discovery system, through its Network Threat Discovery (NTD) feature, to provide comprehensive network protection.
Norman’s Network Protection system sits on the network and automatically detects and collects malicious files that may have slipped past traditional defenses. Forensics teams analyze the malicious code in these files using MAG2. MAG2 provides industry-leading Hybrid SandBoxing, technology that enables IT and security teams to run suspicious artifacts through the award-winning Norman SandBox®, and concurrently analyze the code in Norman’s virtualized IntelliVM modules. The new Network Threat Discovery feature provides a feedback loop through which NNP uploads malware files to MAG2 for analysis. After MAG2 has identified specific malware attributes, NTD feeds this information back to NNP, which then protects the network against future threats.
“Some corporate and government response teams see as many as 100,000 malicious software files in a single day,” noted Christophe Birkeland, Norman AS’s Chief Technology Officer. “The combination of Norman Network Protection and Malware Analyzer G2, featuring Norman Network Threat Discovery, provides these teams the power to instantly respond to advanced persistent threats (APTs) in a low cost, highly scalable solution that addresses today’s most aggressive cyber threats. In addition, these solutions enable any organization to meet regulatory mandates for security technologies in government, the financial sector and other markets where compliance is an important issue.”
Gartner recently recognized Norman as a Top 10 “Vendor to Watch” in its “Market Trends, Advanced Threat Protection Appliances, Worldwide, 2012,” report, where they specifically cite Norman’s hybrid sandboxing technique and ability to correlate results with network traffic behaviors. Gartner Research Director Lawrence Pingree, notes that, “Large-enterprise and upper-midsize business segments in the United States and Europe continue to drive the greatest demand for advanced threat protection appliances.”
Key features of Norman’s solution include:
- Monitors cyber threats on the wire, in real-time
