MongoLab is happy to announce that our MongoDB-as-a-Service platform is now available through Microsoft Corp.'s new Windows Azure Store. This availability means that MongoLab customers can now deploy databases to the Windows Azure cloud with unprecedented ease, and that Windows Azure customers can seamlessly integrate MongoDB into their applications and make use of MongoLab's popular MongoDB cloud database service.
MongoLab is a full-featured MongoDB cloud database solution that completely automates the operational aspects of running MongoDB. With the MongoLab cloud platform developers can deploy and manage highly available databases for their applications and leverage automated backups, web-based tools, 24/7 monitoring, and expert support.
"We are happy to welcome MongoLab, a leading MongoDB-as-a-Service provider, to the Microsoft Windows Azure Store," said Scott Guthrie, Corporate Vice President, Windows Azure, Microsoft. "We are thrilled that MongoLab's premium MongoDB cloud service will extend Microsoft's cloud database offerings."
Ed Albanese, Vice President of Business Development at 10gen, the company behind MongoDB: "MongoLab and Windows Azure represent two leading MongoDB cloud participants, and their co-operation greatly expands the options available to developers to run, operate, and enjoy MongoDB. 10gen is thrilled to see the community around MongoDB enable access to this technology in many forms, especially as a reliable cloud service."
"We are incredibly enthusiastic about Microsoft's Windows Azure platform," says Will Shulman, CEO of MongoLab. "No other major cloud provider can tout a complete IaaS and PaaS stack, and with Window's Azure's support for multiple application programming environments, such as .NET, Java, PHP, and Python, as well as its support for cutting edge open source technologies such as Node.js, and MongoDB, we believe Microsoft will become a major force in the cloud, offering developers a powerful end-to-end cloud solution for developing and deploying their applications."
Starting on October 31, 2012 MongoLab will be offering a Preview release of its cloud MongoDB service in Microsoft's East US, and West US datacenters and expects the service to be generally available for production over the coming months, at which point, the MongoDB service will be available for additional Windows Azure datacenters.
