Talend, the recognized market leader in open source data integration software, today announced several global healthcare customer wins including Children’s Hospital & Medical Center of Omaha, Hosta, The Clermont-Ferrand Hospital and The University for Health Sciences, Medical Informatics and Technology (UMIT). The traction gained in this space further validates Talend’s ability to provide scalable and flexible solutions at an affordable cost to healthcare organizations of all sizes, while satisfying the need for the real-time data the industry demands.
Worldwide customer wins include:
- Children’s Hospital & Medical Center of Omaha—Children’s Hospital & Medical Center of Omaha is the only healthcare center in Nebraska dedicated to children and specialty pediatrics. It handles close to 300,000 outpatients and 7,000 to 8,000 inpatients a year. The hospital uses Talend Integration Suite to normalize patient records among diverse applications. With Talend, the hospital was able to enhance its billing processes and improve compliance.
- Hosta—Hosta, a provider of services for the healthcare insurance industry, uses Talend Integration Suite for data conversion and data consolidation. With Talend, Hosta is able to deploy a Customer Data Integration (CDI) hub and consolidate policy holder information in a single reference record.
- The Clermont-Ferrand Hospital—The Clermont-Ferrand Hospital has 6,000 employees deployed over three sites, giving residents of the Auvergne region of France a capacity of 1,900 beds. The hospital uses Talend Open Studio to not only verify the quality and consistency of the data, but also for locating missing data. With Talend, the hospital was able to bypass an unreliable information system to improve invoicing by correlating data on hospital stays.
- The University for Health Sciences, Medical Informatics and Technology (UMIT)—UMIT is based in Hall, Austria, and is a key participant in the IMGuS project. A life science data warehouse system supporting systems biology in prostate cancer is managed by UMIT/biomed. In coordination with five other research groups located in Germany and Austria, UMIT manages the technical infrastructure and the data warehouse part of the project and uses Talend’s open source data integration solution to process treatment data and perform statistical analysis. With Talend, UMIT was able to develop specific components to access and process human DNA data.
“Healthcare professionals need up-to-the minute information to advance medical research and provide the best care and services possible,” said Lou Agosta, independent industry analyst in data warehousing. “With the multiple data types and legacy systems, so often found in the healthcare profession, the need for a cost-effective and robust data integration solution to deal with heterogeneous data is in demand. Today, healthcare organizations around the world are discovering the changing economics of data warehousing, driven by open source solutions which offer the flexibility and scalability needed to address the complex data quality issues this industry faces.”
Talend Open Studio has more than five million lifetime downloads and one million core product downloads. Along with enterprise-version Talend Integration Suite, it is a less expensive and more scalable open source alternative to proprietary data integration solutions that require costly initial investment and rely heavily on IT resources for maintenance and upgrades. Talend Integration Suite is an enterprise-grade, high-performance data integration offering that extends the functionality of Talend Open Studio, with technical support and additional features for collaboration and deployment in large enterprise settings.
