Get Free Cloud Storage With SpiderOak's Refer-a-Friend Program

1GB Each for You & Your Friend

CHICAGO, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- If you're looking to boost your online storage space (and who isn't?), SpiderOak's new Refer-a-Friend program makes it easy. The cloud-based backup, storage, sync and file sharing service now is offering 1GB of free storage for each friend you refer within the program limits. Bonus: each friend you enroll gets 1GB of free space, too.

SpiderOak subscribers currently using the service's free 2GBs of storage can earn up to 3 additional free GBs - one per friend - by enrolling buddies, co-workers and family members at https://spideroak.com. By referring just three friends, then, users can increase their free backup and storage capacity from 2GB to 5GB.

Paid SpiderOak subscribers can earn up to 20 free GBs, again one for each referred friend. Every free GB buys time before increasing data needs will push the user up to the next 100GB pricing bracket.

Standard SpiderOak pricing is free for the first 2 GB, $10/month from 2 to 100 GB, and $10/month for each additional 100 GB increment for an unlimited number of devices. Pricing includes backup, sync, file sharing, storage and remote file access.

SpiderOak enables users to store, backup, sync, access and share files from any combination of Windows, Mac and Linux computers as well as external storage media in a single account. All data is housed in a central storage repository, accessible from any Internet-enabled device, stored permanently even for older and deleted files, and protected by "zero-knowledge" encryption that prevents even SpiderOak employees from viewing user information including file and folder names.

The sync portion of the service allows documents, music, photos, movies and other files to be sync'd automatically and continuously across Windows, Mac and Linux platforms, ensuring that changes in designated folders on a given machine are replicated across all devices. No changes to the user's existing folder structure are required.

Advanced de-duping available exclusively from SpiderOak cuts backup/sync time by as much as 90%, as well as reducing storage costs by conserving space. Multiple redundancy strategies and an automated stress testing and verification system protect customers against data loss.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
